With the Dragon having ended, and the Enigma Week coming to an end, the third and final stage of the Ultra Unlock bonus is ready to take over- the Unova Week. Each week has featured rare Pokemons in wild encounters and raids, and Unova Week is going to be no different. With the surprising lack of special research tasks in Enigma Week, we do not know what to expect from this event as of now; however let us have a look at everything which has been made official. From wild encounters to egg hatches and raids, we’ll be covering everything you need to know for the Unova Week.

What Is Unova Week In Pokemon Go? IrisGuardian

Unova Week is the third and final event of the time-limited Ultra Unlock bonuses, which was unlocked for everyone by the attendees of the Go Fest 2020. Each week features special Pokemons in wild, egg hatches and raids, along with some special bonuses. The month of August saw two successful Ultra Unlock Weeks- Dragon and Enigma, and will now be followed by Unova Week and will run for seven days.

The Unova Week will focus on fifth-gen Pokemons, which were originally discovered in the Unova region. Players will get to see new debuts, along with new shinies in egg hatches, raids or wild, including the new shiny Genesect (which, BTW, looks gorgeous).

Unova Week Highlights

The Unova Week will kick off on August 14, 1:00 p.m. PDT, and will continue till August 21, 1:00 p.m. PDT. The week will feature mostly generation 5 Pokemons, discovered in the Unova region. So expect to find likes of Snivy, Patrat, Purrloin and more spawning more frequently in the wild. This week also has a slew of new debuts- Sewaddle, Cottone, Emolga and Bouffalant. This bison Pokemon is exclusive to the players in New York City and surrounding areas, and can be hatched 5 km eggs as well as found in wild encounters.

Handy Tip To Hatch Eggs Quicker

Handy Tip To Hatch Eggs Quicker IrisGuardian

As we always mention, hatching eggs can be a lot of hassle even though Niantic has reduced the walking distance in half. Especially the 7km and the 10km eggs which might seem impossible to hatch for some of you with hectic schedule; but at the same time you want those gorgeous shiny baby Pokemons which you might want to use in Go Battle leagues. So what do you do? Most importantly, how do we do it? Well, in order to test Shiny rates from egg hatches, we use this simple tool from Amazon, which gets us around, 65km to 110km on a daily basis.

We only recommend you this, if you are really serious about the game and want to hatch every Shiny that’s available in game, as it guarantees you Shiny hatches.

Unova Week Raid Bosses

The raids during Unova Week will be featuring mostly the fifth generation Pokemons of the Unova region. The highlight of the week is Genesect with its shiny form. Shiny Genesect changes from purple to bright red, a remarkable change for a Pokemon, and stands out from other shinies.

TIER 5 RAID BOSS: Genesect

Genesect is a mythical Bug and Steel-type Pokemon which was introduced in Generation 5. It has a total of five forms: Normal, Douse, Shock, Burn, and Chill; however only the Normal form is currently available in the game. If you are lucky, you might get your hands onto a shiny form, but it will be very rare, and we suggest you to start stocking up premium raid passes.

Genesect counters

Being a Steel and Bug-type makes Genesect especially vulnerable to Fire-type Pokemons. It is boosted by Snow and Rainy weather. The top Pokemons to counter Genesect are:

  • Moltres
  • Entei
  • Charizard
  • Reshiram
  • Blaziken
  • Chandelure

NOTE: Shadow Pokemons are known for their higher attack stats, and if you have the shadow counterparts of the above mentioned counters, we recommend you to include them in your team.

TIER 1 RAID BOSS: Roggenrola

Roggenrola is a Rock-type Pokemon, which was originally discovered in the Unova region. It is vulnerable to Fighting, Grass, Ground, Steel and Water-type Pokemons and is boosted by Partly Cloudy weather. The top Pokemons to counter Roggenrola are:

  • Conkeldurr
  • Lucario
  • Metagross
  • Kinglet
